Volstead
Privacy policy
What Volstead collects, why, and your choices.
Who we are
Volstead is a game made by Phoenix Gaming Studios (“we”, “us”). This policy explains what personal data the game and this website handle and why. Contact: privacy@your-domain.example.
Draft template. Review this page with a qualified lawyer before launch, and remove the highlighted placeholders.
What we collect
When you play online
- Account identifiers. To play online you sign in with Epic Online Services. We receive a product user ID (a random identifier for your account), your display name and your platform (Epic or Steam).
- Lobby and session data. Join codes, lobby membership, and the connection details needed to link players together.
- Network information. Your IP address is used to connect you to other players. Peer-to-peer connections may reveal your IP address to the other players in your lobby, unless relay is enabled (state your EOS relay setting).
Stored on your device
- Save files and settings. Stored locally in the game's save folder. We do not receive them. If you join someone else's game, your progress is stored in the host's save on the host's device.
Optional
- Crash reports and analytics: State whether the game sends crash reports or analytics. If it does not, write: Volstead does not currently collect analytics or crash reports.
On this website
This site does not use advertising cookies. If you add analytics or embeds to the site, describe them here.
How we use it
- To sign you in, create lobbies and connect you with friends across Epic and Steam.
- To keep multiplayer working, prevent abuse and fix bugs.
- To answer support requests you send us.
We do not sell your personal data and we do not use it for advertising.
Who we share it with
The game uses these services, each with its own privacy policy:
- Epic Games (Epic Online Services and the Epic Games Store) for sign-in, lobbies, friends and invites.
- Valve (Steam) if you play through Steam, for overlay invites and platform identity.
- Other players in your lobby see your display name and in-game character.
We may disclose data if the law requires it. Add any other processors, such as an email or hosting provider.
How long we keep it
We keep support emails for retention period, for example 12 months. We do not keep copies of your save files. Account identifiers held by Epic and Valve are governed by their own retention policies.
Your rights
Depending on where you live (for example the EU, UK or California) you may have the right to access, correct, delete or export your personal data, to object to certain processing, and to complain to your data protection authority. To make a request, email privacy@your-domain.example. We may need to verify who you are first. We will respond within the time required by law.
Data held by Epic or Valve must be requested from them directly.
Children
Volstead is not directed at children under minimum age, for example 13 or 16, and we do not knowingly collect their personal data. The game depicts alcohol production and smuggling and is intended for mature audiences. If you believe a child has given us personal data, contact us and we will delete it.
Security and transfers
We take reasonable steps to protect the data we hold. Your data may be processed in countries other than your own, including by Epic and Valve, under their own transfer safeguards. Add transfer mechanism if you hold data yourself.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy we will update the date at the top of the page. For significant changes we will say so in the game or on the store page.
